Many of us have taken video from either a cam recorder or camera or mobile phone which can capture video and it is time to make the video looks great before posting online. One of the most common issues the video creator face is some part of the video might not look good thus you will need to cut it off from the rest of the video clip or perhaps you just want a particular part of the video clip and omit the rest of them, then you will need a video editing software to perform such a duty for you!
In this article, I will edit a simple video with free software known as Shotcut! There are lots of free software all of us can use to do the video editing work but in this article let us just concentrate on Shotcut which is a pretty great video editing software for those of us that do lots of video editing work!
First of all, let’s go to the official website of Shotcut to download this amazing software.
After you have installed the software just launched it and let us start to do the video editing jobs.
Step 1: Grab a video file
Grab a video file from your computer and dumbed it to the playlist section.
Step 2: Add video to the timeline
Add that video to the timeline with Timeline->Track Operations->Add Video Track to create a video track element on the left side of the timeline panel and then just grab the video clip from the top Playlist panel and dumped it to the right side of the timeline panel.
Step 3: Start cutting the video
Next, move the cursor to one spot along the timeline and press the Split At Playhead button, and then move the cursor to another spot and click again at the Split At Playhead Button to split the video clip into various sections as shown below:-
As you can see the video clip has been split into three different sections:-
Step 4: Delete the unwanted sections and move the wanted section to the beginning of the timeline
Left-click to select the unwanted clip and right-click to remove it!
Then drag the wanted video clip to the starting position of the timeline.
Basically, that is it, you can now export the video to your computer’s folder and get ready to upload it to any video-sharing platforms on the internet!
